ABSTRACT: The study entitled “O Campeonato Brasileiro de 1985: Memórias do Grêmio Esportivo Brasil de Pelotas”, is a research developed through the analysis of different sources, such interviews and periodicals, which deal with the participation of Brasil de Pelotas in the Brazilian Football Championship of 1985, year in which the club finished in third place among 44 participating teams. The source in Oral History was produced after the recording and transcription of a total of nine interviews with eight different deponents, during the years 2018, 2019 and 2020. The newspapers were analyzed in the years 1985, 2000, 2005 and 2020 - these years were chosen based on the events during the participation of Brasil de Pelotas in the Brazilian Championship and their subsequent narratives. In 1985, Brasil de Pelotas disputed your fourth and last Brazilian Championship of Football of the first division. Previously, participated in the editions of 1978, 1979 and 1984. The memories about the participation in a sport competition were being built by different supports of memories, orality and the press being two promoters of narratives about the past. During the study, the characteristics present a phenomenon of collective memory - experienced by ex-athletes, ex-managers and supporters that followed in loco during the participation of the club in the 1985 Brazilian Championship were observed. The narratives of the interviewees comment on the their involvement with the club, even before the year that is focused on here, however, like the newspapers, over time, a constructed narrative reverberates, with common aspects present in the speeches of the different interviewees and the content in the periodicals during the 35 years that take the present away from the remembered period.
