The WOMEN IN FOOTBALL FILM FESTIVAL is an international competitive event with a conceptual and curatorial approach focused on women’s football, organized by the Museu do Futebol [Footbal Museum]. The festival highlights the role of women in sports cinema by showcasing their representation in the creation, production, and dissemination of audiovisual works centered on football.
The WOMEN IN FOOTBALL FILM FESTIVAL is a space where international film productions on women’s football and other related topics can come together. This is particularly important in the run-up to the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which Brazil is hosting for the first time. It aims to be a true beacon for generating knowledge, providing collective support, and promoting, disseminating, reflecting on, and appreciating the football cinematography created by cis or transgender women, non-binary women, LGBTQIAPN+ women, and anyone who identify socially as a woman.

The Museum, cinema and women in football
Museu do Futebol has a long history of partnering with audiovisual productions focused on sports, being a partner of CINEfoot – the Football Film Festival – since its first edition, and frequently providing a space for filmmakers to host screenings and premieres in its auditorium.
Since 2015, the institution has been deeply engaged in the research, promotion, and visibility of women’s football, and is now recognized as a leading reference on the subject. In 2024, the integration of women’s football across the entire main exhibition was one of the most significant highlights of the renovation works, completed about a year ago.
