Michael Jackson: “free” to play
Since August 2019
Marileia dos Santos, better known as Michael Jackson, is one of the great figures in the history of Brazilian women’s football. In the second part of a series of four, this virtual exhibition tells about the carioca’s career after the end of the ban on women’s football and with the regulation of the sport.
After starting to play soccer, when the sport was still banned in Brazil for women, Michael Jackson finally saw his modality being released to everyone. With that, he started his professional career, while women’s football went through its first regulation.
This virtual exhibition, held at Google Arts&Culture, recounts the player’s trajectory, going through all the clubs she defended in the early years of her career, through photos from the time.
