July 12, 2024 – this is the most awaited day by the team and all fans of the Football Museum. It is the date for reopening our main exhibition totally renewed, after at least two years of planning and eight months of works. The wait wasn’t that long, was it?
Anyone who has been visiting our social networks is already aware of the significant changes in the whole exhibition space with the purpose of making each tour in the museum even more exciting, fun and full of history.
Some rooms have been expanded, other ones created or replaced. New installations now also occupy our 6 thousand square meters of exhibition areas. From this reorganization, the museum opened space for women’s soccer and to address contemporary subjects, such as diversity, inclusion, and racial issues, inside and outside the game field.
The project considered accessibility resources, with larger floor areas, maps and haptic models, and the insertion of additional contents in Libras (Brazilian Sign Language).
The most beloved experiences of the visitors were also maintained, such as the Exaltation Room, where we feel like being a part of the supporters in the game field; and “Chute a Gol (Kick at Goal)”, which now presents new phygital (physical+ digital) ball games.
The project was funded by a total investment of R$ 15.8 million from the Secretariat of Creative Culture, Economy e Industries of the Government of São Paulo, and sponsored by Banco BMG and Grupo Globo; it was also supported by Goodyear, Sabesp, Adidas, Rede, Mercado Livre, Farmacêutica EMS, Cabot and Arkema – all of them via Federal Cultural Incentive Law – Lei Rouanet.
This is very important: this whole transformation was possible because we are a public museum, administered through a partnership management model with a social organization (IDBrasil), enabling us to receive contributions from legal entities, which were crucial to make the project viable.
“Fine, but what will the museum functioning be like?”
As from July 12, we open for real, i.e., Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00am to 06:00pm, with entrance permitted up to 05:00pm. To celebrate, on July 12-14, entrance is free of charge for everyone! For now, the tickets must be acquired directly in the ticket office, on the visit day.
In other days, tickets will cost R$ 24.00 and R$ 12.00 (half). Children below 7 years enter for free, and the entrance continues to be free of charge for everyone on Tuesdays.
