The research conducted by the CRFB is organized by own projects and partnerships with universities, research centers, and individual researchers. The research projects are based on two lines:

Living Memory, with the purpose of creating a series of recorded audio and/or video interviews with statements of people regarding the events, scenarios, and practices related to football or other subjects of interest of the Football Museum, according to the case. This line of research uses the methodology of Oral History.

In the Net, with the purpose of identifying locations, characters, collections, events, and practices related to contemporaneous football, mainly by means of field research. This line of research uses, mainly but not exclusively, the method of Ethnography.
